Bridge the GAP

A GAP in the system

bridge the gap between physician and patient using nutrition as a tool

The language of the doctor is one of physiology and biochemistry.  The language of the patient is one of managing their symptoms, getting through the day, and navigating new lifestyle changes as they create new habits.  The GAP between these two creates misunderstandings, lack of empathy, and decreased compliance.

Here we examine the mechanical, chemical, structural, and microbial environment of you as a unique individual.

Together we need to clear the muddy waters so we can work on calming the storm of inflammation.  Once this is achieved we can focus on enhancing the growth of a healthy system and modulate our results!

Genes

Outside environment, the state of our mindset, adoption of movement, and food choices determine our gene expression.  We don't have to be victims of diseases that "run in the family".

How Does It Work?

About Me

Barb Beavis

Functional Nutrition Practitioner

Personal Trainer

My goal is to help clients achieve a balanced lifestyle that encompasses all dimensions of health & wellness.  As a Functional Nutrition Practitioner and Personal Trainer, I strongly believe in the necessity for an active lifestyle incorporating a balance of all the compulsory components of fitness and making smart food choices when it comes to you and your family, not only for optimal health, but also for disease prevention.

Over the years, it has given me great satisfaction to pass along my existing knowledge and enthusiasm with the highest standard of service, safety and professionalism to those wanting to adopt a lifestyle of physical and mental well-being.  While my career has been primarily as a personal trainer, recently I have chosen to switch gears and focus more intently on my nutrition education.  The time I have spent with clients helping them to improve their fitness has led me to realize that most people really just need help sifting through the weeds of nutrition advice.  More often than not I encounter clients that come to me for exercise but need much more than that to improve their health.

In the beginning I trained clients at their homes, in nearby parks, or at a client’s preferred gym.  In 2007 I opened my own training facility for women only.  It was located on Broadway Avenue.  In 2008 I obtained my Nutrition Certification.  Owning my own studio taught me a lot and one of the lessons I learned was that running a business took me away from what I loved best---helping clients improve their health!  I closed that studio and went on to become the Fitness Manager at Motion Fitness. Here I am today building my client base at my home clinic in Varsity View.

When I’m not meeting with clients I like to exercise, do a yoga practice, play with my kids, go to the lake, travel, spend time with my husband, golf and hang out with friends.  On my nightstand you will find books on nutrition!

With 21 years experience as a nutritionist and personal trainer my ultimate goal is to teach my clients how to balance the three necessary components of living a healthy life: a healthy mind, a healthy body, and a healthy spirit.
